Crochet Beads and Baubles

September 29, 2016

Making these little beads has to be one of the speediest crochet decorations ever!  I'm making a stash of them to use in my next crochet project and I am hoping  you will enjoy making them as much as I do.

You can use any yarn and any hook just keep your tension tight.  For this tutorial I am using my trusted Rico Essentials DK with a 3.75mm hook.

All terms are Uk and we are working in spiral rounds

Begin by making a magic loop and making sure that you have an extra long tail (about an arms length) because we will be using it as stuffing.

Round 1: ch 1 and work 6 dc into the loop.

Pull the tail to close the loop and bring the tail to the front of your work

Round 2:  Work 2 dc into each stitch = 12dc

Round 3:  Work 1 dc into each stitch = 12 dc

Notice how the sides are curling up.

Round 4:  *Skip next stitch, work 1dc into next stitch* repeat this 5 more times but after the 2nd time stop and wrap the tail around your finger and then stuff it all into the bead.

Use the end of the hook to help stuff it all in.

Join with a slip stitch and cast off.  You may wish to keep the tail to secure you crochet bead onto your crochet project or alternatively if you don't need it then thread the tail back through the bead and cut it off.
